Handmade card: Conguero birthday

Today was my co-worker's birthday. He is a talented conga player who counts Ray Barretto and Tito Puente as his idols.  I had quite a bit of fun creating a unique personalized birthday card. He had admired one of my previous cards, that was a sympathy card though. He mentioned how beautiful it was and how he could not afford a card that detailed. I made it a point to ask him specific questions about his passion, playing the congas. That information helped me to create this card. Enjoy!!!

Handmade card: Crocheted celebration

This card was created with scraps and bling. The flower was actually the cut out center of a crocheted doily embellished with red bling.
My sister commissioned this card for a co-worker who loves to party. Her birthday was a big affair this year and this card echoes the color scheme of the party invitation.

On the inside of the card I added one of my favorite stickers, since it is hers as well, a yummy margarita.
Thank you for following my blog! I welcome your comments and suggestions on any challenge or request you  may have.

Handmade card: Fishing for wishes

This card was created for someone who loves to fish. Even though it is a masculine card I thought it was only fitting I add a few dimensional bling to the fishing lure. Some of my extensive stash of wood patterned paper came in handy.

The picture I had in mind, when creating this card, was that of an old comic book with the different frames inside each page. In the past I looked forward to fishing trips with my family and I believe I brought that across in this card. The recipient is a new co-worker, who told me he relaxes by going fishing in the warm waters of the Gulf of Mexico.

I look forward to your suggestions and comments, or you could always email me if you would like to see me create anything special for you and yours.

Handmade card: Paradise found

Where my last creation sprang from paint chips, this card sprang from a tropical paradise calendar I was given. Each page is more breathtaking than the next so it took me a little time to choose the image I wanted to work with today. I knew I wanted to incorporate wood patterned paper. Using white wood patterned paper would have felt too matchy matchy so I resisted that temptation. I like it much better with the wood patterns and chevron pattern I selected.

Handmade Tag: Discovering my style

I have this crazy love for wood patterned paper. It may be the distressed thing or just the realistic thing. This tag was a fun challenge to myself. The feather I added just for kicks (I found it in the backyard today!)
When I saw these K&Co slide stickers in the store I knew they were the dimensional fanciful embellishments I needed on my cards. A little change of pace from all the canine cards. You know what they say about variety being the spice of life. Back to canine cards tomorrow! Any requests or challenges?! Please let me know and I will gladly oblige.

Pug cards: Registered cuties

My goal with this pug card was to create a title that was as adorable as the look on their faces. They may have their serious faces on but I still think they are super cute. That is the funny thing about most pugs, they are serious one second and goofballs the next. Any pug owner will back me up on that.

Canine card: Chows

This breed always reminds me of those big lions in front of courthouses. They are extremely loyal and protective. Their fur reminds me of a big fluffy stuffed toy in this myriad of colors!

Canine card: Corgi

Here is the latest installment in my Canine Card Collection. The Pembroke Welsh Corgi is a breed close to my heart as it used to be a family pet. I trust you enjoy this card.

Little bling details complement the card along with the Welsh Coat of Arms.

Pug cards: To all the Champions!

In this performance based world we live in, the road to becoming a Champion is not an easy one. These pugs resemble many I have seen waiting to enter the show ring or leaving the show ring. It is a rarefied atmosphere I cannot compare to anything else I have encountered before. Each dog has his own personality and is influenced by the pace (and yes! even mood) of his/her handler. In my opinion, they are winners just by being there... but that is just that, my opinion..... Congratulations to all the Champions!

Pug cards: Hearts grow fonder

People say distance makes the heart grow fonder, but I wasn't quite sure. When I found this picture it reminded me of my buddy Yoshi, and the look he gets on his face when he is missing his Mommy and Daddy. Dogs in general have a very expressive face and that is very evident on pugs with their wrinkled faces, not to mention those big soulful eyes. I am a proud dog lover and I am sure you can tell that from the many cards I have made.

Pug cards: Is something missing?

On this my birthday month, I decided to depict a pug with a sad birthday. His cake is missing and he's not feeling the love. My heart just went out to him with the confetti coming down all around and the paper horns tooting (or whatever sound it is they make!). Wishing all my fellow Geminis out there a very happy birthday!

Pug cards: Christmas Pug

Even pugs love to celebrate Christmas. I know it's a bit early but when I found this picture I could not resist, so shoot me. How can you pass up that adorable face?

Pug cards: Thanx from Yoshi

This was a commissioned card for a dear family friend, Shirley. The idea was to create a graduated ombre look with the greeting. I decided Yoshi would be allowed to misspell thanks since he is a doggie PLUS it looks cuter with an X.

Pug cards: Ahoy Pug!

It looks like this fawn pug is ready to board his ship. He is a captain in the Pug naval service and he is ready to protect the dangerous waters. I can tell he is a brave sailor, can't you?!

Pug cards: Howdy by Yoshi

Yoshi loves the backyard. It is his domain and everything or everyone within it have to pass his inspection. That includes birds, butterflies and even bugs. No, he does not eat them he is just fascinated by them. The look on his face reminded me of someone about to speak so that is why I chose "HOWDY" as the greeting.

Pug cards: Pug Crossing

This adorable pug couple inspired me to create this cute handmade card. I used a couple photoshop patterns and brushes to complete the rustic scene. I also did not wanna weigh it down with tons of bling.

Pug cards: Yoshi says...

For Yoshi, happiness is playing outside with his toy elephant. I wanted to echo that in the look of the card. He is a ball of energy and a photogenic little ham of a pug. This is one of my favorite cards I have created. What do you think???
