Digital art: Veterans' Day
On a day like today I remind myself of the many men and women who have made the selfless sacrifice of defending our country. One of these men was my Uncle John who served in the Navy. The fact he served our country made my grandfather very proud. I thank him and all of those who have served in our armed forces.

Yoshi card: best is yet to come
I waited until Kathi received this card before I blogged it. This was one of those personal creative explosions I have from time to time, LOL! The vines are meant to represent Yoshi's family tree since Kathi is the breeder who created our Grand Champion Brindun's Johnny One Note. She sent us all an email as soon as she got our card. I decided to create and send it early since I had my wisdom teeth extracted on Thursday .....I had no pain until this morning, and now I have an ice pack on my face. Oh well, at least I have one more day to recover before I return to work.
Enough about my pity party....here is the card in all its glory ! Thank you for visiting my blog. Please feel free to send me a message with any questions or requests.

Family page: Tropical trio
Our family is spread out through countries and islands. This page features three of my cousins who grew up in Hawaii. Their father worked in the hotel industry before retiring to enjoy his golden years.

Family page: Love time
Our family is anxiously awaiting the arrival of little Zoe. It seems she is already asserting herself, since she will not be rushed, regardless of 7 minute apart contractions. Natashia has nurtured our little munchkin through 9 very difficult months. The time is almost here!

Family page: Brotherhood
My brother and my cousin have been closer than brothers all their lives. So when I was envisioning a brotherhood page I knew it had to be about them. The photos I chose show their bond through the years. Enjoy!

Family page: Maternal grandparents
While reviewing the pages I created thus far I noticed I was only featuring my Dad's side of the family. Today's page features my maternal grandparents. Both sides are so filled with history. I urge anyone who wants to learn more about their ancestors to ask questions. If you have grandparents still alive ask them. In my experience they love sharing family stories, anecdotes and life lessons. If possible record their voice, make a video or ask if they have any old photos you could scan and share with the rest of the family. Enjoy my journey!

Family page: Grandfather's gentlemanly ways
Like many of our ancestors, my grandfather was a gentleman in every sense of the word. Even though he had to overcome many obstacles, he did it with decorum and class. This is a young portrait of him, may he rest in peace!

Family page: All about the genes
Every family has genetic traits that get passed down through the generations. In our case, it's ALL about the cheeks. My cousin Lisette and her daughters are a perfect example. I still remember how our great grandmother loved to pinch our cheeks when we went to visit her. Wherever she is in heaven I am sure her heart swells with pride.

Family page: My Great Grandmother
As I get older how truly lucky I was growing up surrounded by family. I can say I knew my great grandmother. She had the softest skin and the biggest smile I have seen. She was a strong, happy, classy and smart lady. She wore a real whale bone corset every day, and she refused to wear pants. When she baked her delicious croissants she made enough for her whole family. Enjoy!

Family page: My great uncle's wife
In yesterday's page I featured my great uncle, so I thought it only fitting to feature his wife, Antonia, on today's page. I have been blessed by receiving most of my family's old photos. Back then personal photos were all about art. Enjoy!

Family page: Great Uncle Antonio de Jesus
Besides card making and Scrapbooking, my other passion is genealogy. Today's page features my Great Uncle Antonio de Jesus and his two children (Mikey and Mary) while he was in the Army. I chose this photo because it shows what a proud family man he was. Enjoy!

Handmade envelope: Betty Jo's Giddy Up
When I created this envelope I saw it clearly in my mind's eye. I almost felt the wind brushing through my own hair....weird, but true. What I had been told about Betty Jo was that she was a very independent and active 80 years young. She runs her own errands in her trusty van she has owned since forever, loves her family, loves Texas wild flowers, and is a huge Aggies fan. I absorbed all of that information and created this envelope for her card. Enjoy!

Scrapbook: Twin birthday
Happy St Patrick's Day!
In our family it's a chance to thank God for all our blessings. My cousin Ricky and his wife Rosario welcomed their twin daughters into this world 21 years ago. This is a layout I created for them.

Scrapbook: Home Grown family
The cute little baby girl in the photos is my mommy. Wasn't she adorable?!
The building was her home for her first few years of life, and it seems the fun thing to do was go onto the fire escape for an impromptu photo shoot. I took the photo of the building on my first and only trip to New York in 1999. To go into the building would have been nice but I did not want to push my luck.
The background paper is some torn sheets from a music book I purchased at half price books (for $1). I love great clearance deals.

Sneak peek: Back to the books!
It has felt like forever since I created a full 12x12 scrapbook page. I was inspired by some vintage pictures I had stored away... More to come!

Mini Album: Our Family Photo
Their family is a unique and tightly bonded one. In this the last page in the anniversary mini album I created for my sister, the chinese proverb is perfect. This proverb states 'One generation plants the trees, another gets the shade.'

Mini Album: Jaelynn Lasai, part 3
The adventure continues with the next 2 pocket pages. The pink damask paper is flocked. The colorful glittery stickers are from Target's 99 cent section.
I used some paper tape to create a pull tape for the music note patterned paper. The fun embellishment was from my stash.
The sticker quote from Helen Keller was appropriate "Keep your face to the sunshine and you cannot see the shadows"
The pullout pages on that page are from Little Yellow Bicycle's family journal ticket pad.

Card: Graduation 2009
You know time has flown by when someone you feel is still your "little" niece graduates from high school. Yes, it happened and I almost started bawling when I saw her walk on the stage to pick up her diploma. Where did the time go?... It seemed like just yesterday when I was bawling at her elementary school graduation, LOL!
