Donations: PDCA Nationals auctions

This year it was my pleasure to donate 20 of my handmade cards to the Pug Dog Club of America's auctions. I knew anyone attending this annual convention would enjoy a varied collection of pug cards.
I look forward to seeing the look on the winning bidder's face. Stay tuned for more pictures.

Yoshi card: Dream bigger

In learning about show pugs I have come to the conclusion that you can always achieve your dreams if you dream bigger than the expected. Showing black pugs has been an adventure and one that I have enjoyed immensely. Enjoy!

Yoshi card: double birthdays

Today marks the birthday of two very members of my family, my brother-in-law and our close friend. I had a tough time outdoing my last creations for them. My brother-in-law loved his, and now I'm just waiting to hear back from our friend. You be the judge...
This is Marie's card above! I went for vintage themed and colorful.

For my brother-in-law's card I used one of his favorite Yoshi photos. The paisley resembles one of his dress shirts, and the saying "Eat,Sleep,Play,Repeat" defines Yoshi's favorite things to do.

Yoshi Card: Super Star

Just returned from a San Antonio dog show where our Grand Champion, Yoshi, was awarded Select Dog. This award is a 4-point major win. In our eyes he is a Super Star every day, but it's always good when someone else agrees.

Yoshi Card: Celebrating the little things

If we have learned anything with Yoshi, is to celebrate all the little things.

Yoshi card: Tropical birthday

All cards are created equal, with love and attention, but there are some that lie closer to the heart. The idea behind this one was to be whimsical and tropical at the same time. The recipient adores Mexico, so he was a little understanding about the Hawaiian shirt.

In my defense hibiscus flowers also grow in Mexico, just saying. The coconut drink was my idea since I could not get a coconut cocktail (for my birthday) on my one and only trip to Mexico. At least Yoshi enjoyed one for me on this card.

Yoshi card: Celebrating Shirley

Yet another unique Yoshi card was created for his Aunt Shirley (his grandpa's mommy). It is amazing how much I have learned about pugs since I got to Texas. She is a close friend and supporter, so her satisfaction is one of my goals when I make her cards.

She loves the cute tricks he can do, like sitting up when he wants a treat or just to watch his favorite western on TV.

The photo I used may have been indoors but the card is all about the great Texas scenery.

Yoshi card: Better late than never

Yoshi's Auntie Marie is one of his favorite people  to cuddle with at any time. His photos are more than just an inspiration. He is a larger than life character so it is always a challenge to outdo the last card. Marie lives in the Texas Hill Country so I always like to add wildflowers since they are her favorite.

I used some ribbon that I distressed with some of Tim Holtz' distress stain, just love the STUFF! It adds that little something that finishes everything like nothing else. Jenni Bowlin's star stickers is another must have for me. It helps me personalize any card or envelope. The Prima bling needs no explanation, LOL.

Yoshi card: Belated Birthday Nana

In many ways I hate to forget anyone's birthday, but due to having a day job now, time is at a premium. Our dear friend Kathi loves receiving cards for any occasion. When the card includes her favorite pug, Yoshi, she is even happier.

I just recently found a great deal on some Heidi Swapp fabric ribbon and knew I wanted to transform it with Tim Holtz distress inks. Add a couple of hearts and a brad/button combo, VOILA!

Pug card: Bette's card from Yoshi

This card is Yoshi's way of thanking his friend, Bette for showcasing him in the PDCA Nationals catalog. Yoshi's career is at an all time high and he is a proud little pug. He wanted me to add thank you in different languages (chinese, spanish, english) as he has fans in many countries.

Pug card: Yoshi says Hi!

Yoshi's adorable pug mug graces this friendly card. Sometimes you want a card that you can send someone to say "Hi, I'm thinking about you buddy!"... He has a friendly expressive face that draws everyone in.

Pug card:Yoshi's gift to his Poppa

Like with Mother's Day last month, Yoshi was very particular about getting a very special card for his Poppa. He wanted me to include his paw prints and his daddy's love for tennis. The creativity in the rest of the card he left up to me. I love using wood patterned paper and chipboard embellishments. I must admit the photo I used was his daddy's favorite. The final product passed the Yoshi test! Yay another satisfied customer.

Pug cards: Registered cuties

My goal with this pug card was to create a title that was as adorable as the look on their faces. They may have their serious faces on but I still think they are super cute. That is the funny thing about most pugs, they are serious one second and goofballs the next. Any pug owner will back me up on that.

Pug cards: To all the Champions!

In this performance based world we live in, the road to becoming a Champion is not an easy one. These pugs resemble many I have seen waiting to enter the show ring or leaving the show ring. It is a rarefied atmosphere I cannot compare to anything else I have encountered before. Each dog has his own personality and is influenced by the pace (and yes! even mood) of his/her handler. In my opinion, they are winners just by being there... but that is just that, my opinion..... Congratulations to all the Champions!

Pug cards: Hearts grow fonder

People say distance makes the heart grow fonder, but I wasn't quite sure. When I found this picture it reminded me of my buddy Yoshi, and the look he gets on his face when he is missing his Mommy and Daddy. Dogs in general have a very expressive face and that is very evident on pugs with their wrinkled faces, not to mention those big soulful eyes. I am a proud dog lover and I am sure you can tell that from the many cards I have made.
Thank you for stopping by my blog! It is a pleasure to know my work is being appreciated and repinned on Pinterest/Twitter.

Pug cards: Is something missing?

On this my birthday month, I decided to depict a pug with a sad birthday. His cake is missing and he's not feeling the love. My heart just went out to him with the confetti coming down all around and the paper horns tooting (or whatever sound it is they make!). Wishing all my fellow Geminis out there a very happy birthday!
