Pug cards: Pug Crossing

This adorable pug couple inspired me to create this cute handmade card. I used a couple photoshop patterns and brushes to complete the rustic scene. I also did not wanna weigh it down with tons of bling.

Pug cards: Yoshi says...

For Yoshi, happiness is playing outside with his toy elephant. I wanted to echo that in the look of the card. He is a ball of energy and a photogenic little ham of a pug. This is one of my favorite cards I have created. What do you think???

Pug cards: Airmail Approved

This is the beginning of my new pug card collection. I will still continue the general canine card collection. My idea for this card was to make it look like a specialty magazine. The tired fawn pug puppy was just too precious to pass up.The old fashioned phone is a Photoshop brush found online. I trust you will get a kick out of it.

Mini Album: Our Family Photo

Their family is a unique and tightly bonded one. In this the last page in the anniversary mini album I created for my sister, the chinese proverb is perfect. This proverb states 'One generation plants the trees, another gets the shade.'

Mini Album: Siesta Time

These pages highlight one of their many trips to Mexico. They love the people, food, landscape and how relaxed they feel when there. These hammocks look so comfy I wish I had one right now.

Mini Album: Heart and Soul Moments

Heart and Soul defines the love between my sister and her husband. Their love has endured over 20 years (12 of them married). In this day and age of disposable marriages, theirs has held fast through many storms. They are an inspiration to everyone they meet.

Canine card: Boston Terrier

Research is fascinating to me and this card was no exception. The Boston Terrier was an American creation as it resulted from the crossbreeding of an  English Bulldog and a white English Terrier back in 1891. They have been nicknamed "The American Gentleman" because of their dapper appearance. Even though it was initially used as a fighting dog during the Civil War, they are now a sought after gentle house pet.

Hope you all enjoyed this card... Thanks for stopping by my blog!

Canine card: English Bulldog

English bulldog puppies are so adorable to me. In this card I wanted to share a bit of the history behind the breed. Winston Churchill I found was nicknamed the 'British Bulldog' for his dogged perseverance. The name "bull" was applied to them because of their connection with bull baiting. From experience with the breed they tend to be gentle and protective. I believe I featured that with the photo of an adorable bulldog puppy.

Handmade envelope: Patchwork birthday

I enjoy working with colorful patterned paper like the one for this handmade envelope. Summer is on its way and I wanted to show that. My sister's birthday has always been a happy and scary time. Happy because I get to celebrate her special day and scary because it means my birthday is around the corner. She loves bling so I put plenty of it!

Handmade card: Wonderful birthday memories

Today is my sister's birthday and I created this nostalgic handmade card to show her how much I care. The photo I used was taken on her 5th birthday. In the years that followed our birthdays, which are so close together (mine is on June 15th), were celebrated with one party. It was great for me because it meant a bigger cake, and I love cake!

Happy Birthday Sissy!! Thank you for being my best friend for so many years.

Mini Album: Relationship memories

These are just a few of their vacation spots. The photo on the left was taken at Universal Studios while standing in line. The one on the right was taken in the pool in Sanibel Island, Florida (paradise on Earth).

Mini Album: Many moons ago

Yes they cringed a little bit when they saw this picture I used. It was taken many moons ago (early 90s). I can almost hear the music in the background. Creating this mini album was a blast!

Mini Album: True love

Valentine's flowers in the background, since it was their first one together. She loves red roses. If I remember correctly she also received a humongous stuffed animal. It's like a time capsule to me and it brings so many happy memories to see this photo. Young love looks like this.

Mini Album: Disney memories

Some of their favorite trips were to Disney and all of the different parks. That is why it was so fitting their ceremony took place there. It was a fairy tale wedding!

Mini Album: The key to love

This is the back cover of the canvas mini album I gifted to my sister and her husband. They just celebrated their 12th wedding anniversary. Their love is a clear example of what it takes for love to remain solid. From college to AKC dog shows they remain together through thick and thin.

Sneak peek: Love on canvas

When I found this embellishment I knew I wanted to use it on this project. The quote was incredible and one of my new favorites. It defines the love between these two people so perfectly. I trust you will all enjoy the following days worth of my tribute to the love shared in this mini album.

Handmade envelope: Husky companion

So proud of how this envelope came out! It was created to compliment the Siberian Husky card my cousin Gabriela fell in love with. She has loving memories of their family dog, a Siberian husky named Robin that passed away not too long ago. This envelope is a tribute to his memory and her love of the breed.

The Tim Holtz paper I used was distressed with some picket fence stain and some of his new (limited edition spring set) peacock feathers distress ink. It is an incredible product and one I can hardly wait to use in so many ways. I trust she will fall in love with the envelope like she did with the card.

Canine card: Chinese Cresteds

I have to admit this breed has been a trying challenge. It is one of those dogs that turns heads when it walks by. The reactions range from one end to another. I wanted to place them in a serene background of bamboo leaves and stalks. During a recent trip to Michael's I was lucky enough to find some nifty oriental-themed brads. The coin brad I used is a symbol of good fortune.

Handmade envelopes: Special Mother's Day

This handmade envelope was created for my mother. She likes oriental decorations (buddhas, elephants and chinese coins). They are a sign of good fortune and I wish her nothing but the best in the rest of her year. I am blessed to be able to celebrate this day in person with her this year.

Yoshi requested I use bright colors on his Mommie's envelope... and yes, again he wanted his paw print over it. He loves to chase after butterflies when he is out in the backyard. Texas in the springtime has an endless number of multi-colored butterflies flitting about. It is my first experience with them and I am thrilled to see so many varieties.

Thank you for stopping by my blog!!! Happy Mother's Day to all those beautiful angels that give us life and carry us when we are too weary to walk on our own!

Handmade cards: Special Mother's Day squared!

Mother's Day is one of my favorite holidays since it allows me to make my Mom feel like a queen. Especially this year since I have so much to thank her for this year. It is the first Mother's day I have gotten to spend with her in over 5 years, so it is worthy of celebration. Happy Mother's Day!!!
This is a handmade trifold card that I filled with some favorite photos of my sister, brother and myself growing up with this supportive, self-sacrificing, loving woman I call "Mom."

My sister, Michelle, is also the proud Momma of a lovely doggie named Yoshi. I thought he would want me to create a special card for her on his behalf. This is one of my favorite pictures of them together. He has a personality as big as the state of Texas.
I took down his message to her and signed it with his paw print. He is a very bossy dog and he did want this card perfect for his Mommie, who he wuvs so very much. Happy Mommie's Day Michi!

Canine card: Boxer

This card boasts a '100 % satisfaction guaranteed' and with a face like that I bet nobody would argue with that statement. My main inspiration with these canine cards is falling in love with a new breed every day. I have never owned a boxer but just staring into those chocolatey eyes my heart quivers.

Handmade envelope: French bulldog

This envelope just makes me smile and it reminded me of the stripes on the French Bulldog's sweater. The closure features a Marah Johnson heart brads with some Martha Stewart Crafts baker's twine.

Canine card: Ooo La La! French bulldog

Something wonderfully unexpected happened to me this weekend. You see, in the process of showing our friend Betty my other canine cards she fell in love with this French Bulldog card I created. One of her friends (at this weekend's dog show in Missouri) is a breeder of French Bulldogs and she bought this card on the spot so she could gift it to her.

Each card is an extension of me and it surprises me when someone loves them so much they want to gift one to a friend.

Handmade envelope: Barney's

This is the envelope I created for Barney Rubble's card, and as you can see the whole Rubble family is featured on the front. It was loads of fun to create something this whimsical. Some times I over think things to death and projects like this remind me to "just have fun". Having fun and bringing a smile into people's lives is one of the reasons why I love creating cards and scrapbooks.

Canine card: Bedrock watch out!

This adorable pug featured above is named "Barney Rubble". He is our friend Betty's grand champion pug. It was one of my first cards created on the go. Even though it was a scary challenge, it was one I enjoyed. Betty was in love with the card. She even mentioned placing it in a prominent spot in her home where she could admire it at any time.

Thank you Betty for everything! Your friendship is an incredible gift!

Handmade envelope: Le Cordon Bleu graduate

This envelope was created for my brother's graduation card. He just reached his goal of becoming a Chef and Le Cordon Bleu's support helped him achieve it. We are very proud of him and all the sacrifices he has had to make to achieve this. Congratulations again!

Canine card: Samoyed

Another month has arrived, and with it another set of canine cards that I trust all of you will enjoy. There are some other collections in the works that I will be unveiling soon. Please feel free to suggest any motif you would like to see me use in my handmade cards.
Just like with the Siberian Husky, the Samoyed is one of those fluffy dogs I love. The accents were Photoshop brushes and a jewel brad I embellished with heart punches in different colors/sizes.
