Handmade card: Momma Gloria's birthday card
In my last post I referenced a crystal inspiration card. This is the complete picture now that the recipient (Momma Gloria) has received it. I treasure the reaction to my heirloom creations and I was told she purchased a frame to proudly display the card and envelope. She was stunned that someone had created such an ornate card.

Handmade card: Conguero birthday
Today was my co-worker's birthday. He is a talented conga player who counts Ray Barretto and Tito Puente as his idols. I had quite a bit of fun creating a unique personalized birthday card. He had admired one of my previous cards, that was a sympathy card though. He mentioned how beautiful it was and how he could not afford a card that detailed. I made it a point to ask him specific questions about his passion, playing the congas. That information helped me to create this card. Enjoy!!!

Family page: priceless 80
I grew up knowing I was blessed to have a close family bond. My childhood was spent with aunts, uncles, cousins and grandparents. One of my aunts celebrates 80 wonderful years of life. I created this fictitious $80 bill for her. Happy Birthday Tia Daisy!

Handmade card: Happiness is...
Sisterhood is a term so rich and meaningful that it is hard to put into words. This card is my attempt at celebrating my sister on her birthday. Even though I don't remember a birthday without her there, I wouldn't change that fact. We were 11 months apart and yet have shared so many happy moments together. Happy birthday Sissy!!!

Family page: Childhood birthday memories
This page features another prized photo from Anthony Isambert's collection. I believe it was one of his childhood birthday parties cradled in his father's arms. My childhood memories also resembled happy scenes like this one.

Family page: Princess birthday
The photo I chose to feature on today's page shows my aunt on one of her birthdays. It reminded me of a portrait of a princess with her lovely opulent dress. The birthday cake on the photo is almost an accessory since you just focus on her adorable smile. Enjoy!

Yoshi page: 6 wonderful years
Today we celebrate Yoshi's 6 wonderful years of life. He is a ham, a champion, a grand champion, a baby and a treasured pet. I am a new convert since I have only known him for 2 years. My first impression of him was that of a 'spoiled brat' since he was always stealing my seat at the dining room table. Once I asserted myself and put him on my lap, we were buddies. Here's to you Yoshi! Wishing you many many more birthdays.

Handmade envelope: Betty Jo's Giddy Up
When I created this envelope I saw it clearly in my mind's eye. I almost felt the wind brushing through my own hair....weird, but true. What I had been told about Betty Jo was that she was a very independent and active 80 years young. She runs her own errands in her trusty van she has owned since forever, loves her family, loves Texas wild flowers, and is a huge Aggies fan. I absorbed all of that information and created this envelope for her card. Enjoy!

Handmade card: Betty Jo's birthday
Every once in awhile I get commissioned to create handmade cards for someone special. This particular birthday card is for a friend's cousin who is 80 years young. Even though I had very little notice I was incredibly pleased at the result.

Scrapbook: Twin birthday
Happy St Patrick's Day!
In our family it's a chance to thank God for all our blessings. My cousin Ricky and his wife Rosario welcomed their twin daughters into this world 21 years ago. This is a layout I created for them.

Yoshi card: Belated Birthday Nana
In many ways I hate to forget anyone's birthday, but due to having a day job now, time is at a premium. Our dear friend Kathi loves receiving cards for any occasion. When the card includes her favorite pug, Yoshi, she is even happier.

I just recently found a great deal on some Heidi Swapp fabric ribbon and knew I wanted to transform it with Tim Holtz distress inks. Add a couple of hearts and a brad/button combo, VOILA!
Thanks for visiting my blog!

Handmade card: Wonderful birthday memories

Today is my sister's birthday and I created this nostalgic handmade card to show her how much I care. The photo I used was taken on her 5th birthday. In the years that followed our birthdays, which are so close together (mine is on June 15th), were celebrated with one party. It was great for me because it meant a bigger cake, and I love cake!
Happy Birthday Sissy!! Thank you for being my best friend for so many years.

Card: Julia's Timeless Birthday

Here are the finished card and envelope I was so happy to be entrusted to create. Thanks Jan for loving my card so much that you wanted me to create another one for your daughter, Julia.
I wanted to make sure to tie both card and envelope together in some way. The result a timeless theme to go with the travel photos I found. They matched some of the things I had found out about Julia.
She will be traveling to Europe and while there she will be taking a cycling trip across Italy. Her greatest treasure is her beloved daughter, Jenna Mei (from Guangdong, China).
In many ways the journeys of her life inspired this card. Even though I have never met her, I feel as if I can identify with her adventurous soul.
I pray she will enjoy this card as much as I enjoyed creating it.
Thanks for stopping by my blog!
