Handmade tag: Merry and Bright

Happy Saturday All!!!

My latest handmade tag was inspired by the wintry temperatures we have been experiencing here in Central Texas. The sheer real estate on the #12 tag was perfect for the extra large glittery MAMBI chipboard snowman.

Even though I had no snowflake stamps to use, I substituted a flower stamp I got in my Faber Castell gelatos set. The distress stain directly on the stamp worked like a charm.

I trust you enjoy this tag as much as I did making it.

Thank you for stopping by my blog!

Card: Sew classy birthday

Luck has been my friend lately, and never so clearly as when I was commissioned to create this special birthday card for a coworker. Veronica's mother is a creative seamstress and when I heard that I knew what products I wanted to use. Donna Salazar has been an inspiration to me for a long time and I have been saving one of the camo flowers I purchased at her etsy shop for this special card. Her work at Prima and through her career gives me hope that I can achieve whatever I want. The paper was Stampin Up kraft cardstock & ribbon, as well as Basic Grey (Bittersweet, Porcelain). The embellishments are Me&My Big ideas (MAMBI) puffy flourishes and Fashion District butterfly. A Prima fleur vintage style flower capped with Say it in Crystals is the cherry on the cake. It was loads of fun to create and Veronica said her mother loved it... I am a happy camper

Altered project: Diva T Mobila

I got a standing ovation when my teammates saw my rendition of a pumpkin Diva. My carving tools ended up being MIA so I had to make due with an X-acto knife and 2 paring knives. I was happy with the results. In my own true fashion I had to add rhinestones and glitter.
Embellishments: T-pins, Me and My big ideas (diva), Doodlebug jewels, Prima Say it in crystals, blue glitter, Blue on purple Glam Trimz (wig), Stampin Up pretties kit rhinestone brad, Heidi Swapp crown, Bazzill big brad, SU chocolate chip stampin marker, Uniball signo white gel pen

Scrapbook:Sibling wisdom

I wanted Kiki's other children to be able to have a place where they could talk directly to their new sister....pages that later in her life she can read and know how her sister and brothers felt. I opted to leave the layouts almost the same since I knew what embellishment I was going to use. When I went to Michaels I found themed stickers by MAMBI (Me & My Big Ideas) for sisters and brothers. The pages basically made themselves from that point. It's amazing how a small thing like an embellishment can inspire. Try it!

Marquetry masterpiece

On January 19th I posted a little taste of this project. I am always on the lookout for new material to work with and last month while shopping at an educational supply store I found these gems. They are double-sided marquetry (wood veneer) pieces which you can arrange in whatever way you want. I created this for my cousin Jenna Palomino and her family. Each corner was separated to make individual mini albums with each family member's initial. The mini album is held closed with a Stampin Up circle clip and attached to the canvas with a Making Memories decorative brad that makes it swivel open. The center I embellished with one of the new We R Memory Keepers grommlets (used the new CROP-A-DILE BIG BITE), Doodlebug rhinestone, and MAMBI rhinestone word (FAMILY). This specific project i mounted on a canvas and then wrapped the edges with 7Gypsies gaffer tape. I found using gaffer tape makes an unfinished canvas look framed.
