Scrapbook: Cherish Memories

After learning my passion for old photos, my friend emailed me a photo of his family taken in the 1950s (I think!). I printed the photo on a transparency and attached it to white cardstock to allow all the little details to stand out. I really think it is a perfect frame for his family photo.

Altered project: Distressed tea canister

My favorite drink is 4C Green Tea and recently I began buying these tall canisters instead of the single packets. I liked the plastic canister so much I decided to take the labels off and try to customize it with alcohol inks and paper.

I added alcohol inks with the Tim Holtz distressing tool (red pepper, eggplant, moss) and once dry i streaked it with the felt pad itself. It felt a little like finger painting and it went on perfectly smooth.

A few scraps of patterned paper and sticker letters...

I added an epoxy sticker to the lid and VOILA!

In this installment of wonderful wednesdays I choose to try something I had not done before.... stamping directly on the cardstock. It was one of those instances where you just take a deep breath and say "whatever happens, here goes!" LOL

Enjoy!!

Challenge: Crossroads

I love doing interesting challenges and this is one I found on Stacy Julian's Blog. The basics were Nature photo + Highlight Color + Inspiration. This photo was taken on my trip to Fort Worth when my cousins (Jenna, Sabrina, Mic) took me to the STOCKYARDS. The sun was setting and it was bringing out the gleam in all the metal around the train tracks. I chose metallic tones as my highlight color. The inspiration was that aside from the physical crossroads I was at an emotional one that had brought me closer to long lost cousins. I thoroughly enjoyed this challenge. Thanks Stacy!

Through a flurry of vivid colors and resounding fireworks Beijing said farewell to the Olympics. I evidenced Michael Phelps and so many other international athletes breaking records that astounded the WORLD. If only we could keep the Olympic spirit alive ALWAYS! -- Forgetting the things that make us different and Remembering the things that make us the same!!!

Altered project: Canvas Motivational Plaque

This little plaque was a request from my brother after he saw my last canvas project. He wanted something he could look at that would motivate him on some of his difficult days. I picked a few quotes and he chose his top 3 quotes. Of course being a mega sports fan one of those quotes had to be by Vince Lombardi. The medium used is a transparency attached with 1/8" tacky tape to a 5x7 canvas panel. I added some Crop-A-Dile eyelets and threaded some ribbon to make it easier to tack to his cubicle wall. The swirly embellishment is a American Crafts Thickers chipboard shape sticker. It was a quick project!

Altered project: Canvas Always

I bought this small canvas panels on one of my shopping trips a while back, so when inspiration hit for a sampler type project I brought it out. I didn't really have a template in mind but I knew that I wanted to include some of the new Stampin Up's ALWAYS stamp set (#111141). The gaffer tape is 7Gypsies Arithmetique, and a Heidi Swapp ghost clock. I placed a 7Gypsies Romantique label where I wanted the clock center and attached the clock with a Stampin Up jewel brad. The flowers on the side of the panel are from SU's new Seasonal Sayings rubons (#111418). Added a few Doodlebug jewels and distressed the edges with Versamagic Gingerbread and Jumbo Java dew drop chalk inks.

Cards: Crystal Fantasy

When I purchased the limited edition Prima Say It In Crystals flourishes (blue/purple) I knew I wanted to create something unique. In my stash I found this Karen Foster PP which I embellished with a blue Sakura Souffle pen. The flowers and brad used are from Stampin Up's Pretties kit both distressed with chalk inks. I recently received the new Stampin Up ALWAYS stamp set and I thought the phrase was perfect for this card. As you have seen in some of my previous posts I love to embellish chipboard, so I stayed true to form. I used a small heart from SU's On Board Elements pack and colored it with Purely Pomegranate classic stamping ink and a white Signo pen.

Stampin Up - Holiday Mini sneak peek

This is a picture of some of the many goodies in the new 2008 Holiday Mini Catalog (coming soon). The tag is one of the new exclusive Stampin Up dies for the Sizzix BIG SHOT. The felt ribbon on the package is a part of new ALPINE ribbon set. The red snowflake is included in SU's new FELT FLURRIES and the striped ribbon is the new 1 and 1/4" Riding Hood Red/Very Vanilla grosgrain ribbon. Even the rope twine is amazing to me. I can see it for nautical pages, kids pages....endless possibilities. The stamps used are from the WINTER POST stamp set.

STAY TUNED for more goodies!!! It's an exciting time to be a Stampin Up Demonstrator

Wonderful Wednesdays: August ATC

On this my first installment of "Wonderful Wednesdays" I wanted to show you how I used those butterflies. I wanted to keep as much of their vibrancy as possible so I printed them out on inkjet transparency sheets. These are my first ATC cards for APieceofcraft . Marion Smith is an inspiration with all the embossing idea videos on Youtube. My strong in divine guidance allowed me to find her online. In these I used Arithmetique gaffer tape by 7Gypsies, Stampin Up Vanilla cardstock and jewel brads from the pretties kit, as well as stamps from the Make it Count stamp set. I have also always wanted to play with some Dee Gruenig brush markers I bought a while back. I wanted to make the stamps echo the colors of the butterflies and I found myself wondering why I hadn't thought of the idea before. I will definitely make up for that oversight from now on.
